Loremaster Thorin

He was one of the greatest mages in Miran, his effort enable the portal to be opened so that the Loremasters could flee for the great conclave. Of all the Loremasters he was most familiar with the void between worlds and thus is the first to emerge into this new realm. As with all mages travel between the world always causes problems, for the techniques of magic learned in one realm often give no result when tried in another. So Loremaster Thorin is presently studying the magical lore from this realm to regain his powers. His aim is to act as a beacon allowing others that were at the conclave, and are now wandering the void, to find this world.
Presently Loremaster Thorin is presently in Mystara, where he is studying under Mystra's Arch Mage.

General Malar

Thorin's second, he held command over much of the armies fighting Nerak. His journey through the void was not a easy one. As a gnome and naturally resistant to magic the spells of protection against the void failed to fully work, leaving general Malar severely weakened in mind and body. He has now gone into training to help recover.

Loremaster ThisWillWorkNoReallyReally (TwwNrr)

A most strange and intriging fellow, I think perhaps I should let him tell his story.
What you want me to tell a story...no my story ok then here goes its quite a good one and bet you havn't heard one let it before here goes. Well I'm a gnome huh if you can't see that...what this is being writen down well why didn't you say so well to start with I came from a world known as Kyrnn you know the one with all the dragons and dragon wars and... what oh the story I'm a gnome did I say and thousands of us used to live under a big mountain the local used to call us tinker gnomes tinker tinker what an insult we don't tinker we're of good gnomish stock and our marvolous inventions... I know I know the story well I had a most exellent life quest, ha though I couldn't do it, all the elders used to say... OHH STOP INTERUPTING ME! my quest was to make a steam powered mechanical device, I called it my "Steam Powered Hopping Pogo Stick With A Special Button That Makes It Hop To A Different World Mechanical Thingimajig" it all worked it did first time just like I said it would but one of the elders said "bet you can't make it take you to a world where mechanical things don't work" but I did it worked and took me to Miiran right next to Loremaster Thorins tower...
Perhaps I should interupt here and finish the story off a bit more consisly. Next to my tower was in actual fact about 200 feet in the air, as I saw a gnome appear on a strange device, which promptly exploded. Droping the gnome down into a pond. I went out to see if he was ok, and after a spell to slow his speech down to an understandable level heard his story. Once he found out he couldn't make mechanical devices work here one of my students (And dont I wish I knew which one of them done it!!!) suggested he could try making magical devices and spells instead. All I can say is that was lucky the war came along so he could try his spells on the enemy instead of near us (Shudder, who in their FIRST day of study can summon a (luckly friendly) dragon, when trying to make an illusion of a flower!!). During the war he came up with many new and extremely origional and unrepeatable spells... Go on tell them of my walking castles, and exploding cows and wevils of wierdness and... you get the idea! So all welcome to Mystra the most eratic, inventive and lucky (after all hes still alive!!!) mage ever, and if you see him starting to cast a spell...what now Ok then, bythegreatpowersof..., NO, NO, NOT NOW, DROP EVERYTHING AND RUNNNNnnnn!!

Loreseeker Falar

A man with a TRUE lust for new knowledge & new experiences. Now he is in this unknown land he plans to relearn the magic he needs, before seeking out old temple, ruins & monster lairs. Many have expressed concern for the dangers he will be putting himself in. I however know him of old and I say, 'Have no fear for the Loreseeker, for like an arrow seeking its target, any who get in its way will perish'.

Craftmaster Lucus

One I didn't think managed to escape through the portal, though we give thanks that he managed to do so, and welcome him here. What he doesn't know about mining and smithing is not worth knowing.

J'Valetez Obron

Hail Mystran's,
I send you greetings from the void, a dark and lonly place, please listen to my tale of then, now and to be.
It starts in a world that once was, named Miran, and not 5 years ago. I was a Wayfinder, an explorer of the great unknowns. Many thought me a hero, a few a villian, and most a fool. Not for me joining a party and going off to slay a dragon. Give me a party of 1 anytime, no arguments, no votes, free Freedom to explorer, few places were there that I hadn't been, beyond the furthest mountain, down though chasms and ancient catacombs. Once even to the depths of the sea (but that is a tail for another time).
I was the first of us to hear of the dark lord, a god banished from another world, trapped here seeking it's revenge on all around it. I made it my quest to find it, for though the knowing may be terrible, how can you fight somthing unseen and unknown. Eventually I found it, posing as an emperor in a land over the sea, raiseing an army to massive size for one purpose only. Death, for it believed that if all life from the greatest beast, to the smallest insect was killed, then it bonds of exile would no longer hold and it would be free.
Thus, knowing its plans, the Lore Concils elected from amonst their ranks one to lead the fight against the dark god, and Loremaster Thorin was choosen. Though the people fought braving, giving way at great cost to the foe it was not enough, fo how can a soldier win against a god. So I left again, now to quest for a means of defeating it. Two years I was gone, still searching, aware that all the time the tides of dark were gradually drowning the light.
Then one night, in the direction I knew once was called home, I saw a great shining light, rainbowed in colour. One shade for each of the Council Mages, twisting round a central beam, the white of the Loremasters. Yet even as I watched a great cloud of darkness moved in, surrounding the light. The rainbow gradually fading under the cover of night, leading the light facing the dark. As the light and dark come together perhaps there is for in there union though the light goes, the cloud becomes greyer, but no. There is infinate darkness and now only 1 spire of light left. The Leader, the last Loremaster, Thorin holding out to the end, yet where the other light have faded to grey, It seem to take it the last of the colours around it, and with a crack even I can feel half a world away it disappears. And from the cloud comes a cry of rage, so it seems that the dark gods prey has escaped.
As I turn away I notice a strange thing. I wear a pendent about my neck, enchanted to always point to home, yet now it point to a new place. Following the pendent I eventually came to an ancient standing stone, as I approached a great light flew from the pendent into the stone, turning the stones surface into a portal, and as the light faded one word was sounded, 'home'. So with nothing more to lose and everthing to gain I stepped through......into the void, the space between, the gap left between the worlds and realitys from when they were made, but a gap between two mountains is a path, and thought the gap between realities is a harder path to follow, it is what I do.
A year I spent exploring the ways and the places upon them, yet our time is getting short so maybe I will regale you another time. So eventually, with over a years exploring done I heard a call, shouted into the void from the Loremaster himself:
'Those who I rescued for the dark take heed,
for a world I have found to suit all our needs.
Come hither I call you, come now leave the void.
Follow the light, follow the call,
soon the portal will close, come now, come all.'

So I heard and I came and now I am here.

An accounting of the recent history of the world of Miran
by Loremaster Thorin

I am Loremaster Thorin, and a tale have I to tell. I am newly arrived in this world from the void beyond fleeing the destruction of my home. So let this tale serve as both a recording or history and a warning to all.

Drat. The scribe that wrote it up's gone on holiday with the script, Wait till I get my hands on him. Anyway the History will be here in a couple of weeks, as soon as he gets back.

The Diaries Of Loremaster Thorin

Turn 39

After Arriving in this realm with my body guard, I have begun to study magic under the Mystra Arch-Mage, My bodyguard are having to work to pay his outrageous fees. In my spare time I are continuing the rituals to bring more of my fellow exiles to this realm. Have employed a couple of locals to have a look round the rest of this land.

Turn 40

Bloody scouts, they spent so long arguing over pay they never even got out of the city gate, oh well it's been sorted now they should begin scouting form the beginning of this month. General Malar & his chief pathfinder have arrived, pathfinder has gone of to do his job and the General is relearning his skills. Have employed a group of locals as scribes to help earn us some money. The cost of magical supplies to continue my summoning rituals is large.

Turn 41

Loreseeker Falar & Loremaster ThisWillWorkNoReallyReally (must try to get him to shorten his name some more!, maybe TwwNrr) have arrived, however only 15 of the 20 men in Malar's 1st guard squad arrived, I don't know what happened, but I will try and find the rest of them this month. The scout have had a bit of a look round, and are continuing on their way, I've told them not to be a hero, if they see any monster run!!. Have just recieved a dispatch from the Malebrache Confederation inviting me to join, I will have to think long and hard on this. Anyway the Arch-Mage should be pleased, he's getting nearly $1000 a month from our studies.

Turn 42

That Archmage blokes getting on my nerves, a day he spent arguing over money, the amount of money we have given him you would have thought he wouldn't have worried about a 24 hour delay in payment. Well were studying now, but it means we arn't going to quite finish our second course this month. Loremaster TwwNrr thinks he has come up with an amazing idea and he run off with the wagon, in his word to turn it into a "Horseless Self Propeller Bigger on the Inside Than Out Big Box on Wheels" Oh well anyone selling replacement wagons. On top of that the Loreseekers off in the woods at the moment pretending to be a bear. So I hate to think what he's come up with.
The Scounts are still alive and exploring, one of the found another town on this island 'Rainbow Town' and he's going to have a look round it next month. I've left the biggest problem to last though, we had saved up a load of money, bought all the needed magical ingredients, and began the ritual to bring nearly 30 of my fellow exiles to this world, and what happened, not the slightest thing. By the time I got my money back of the trader that sold me the sub-standard ingredients, it was to late to find any more. I will try again next month and I hope the delay has harmed nobody.

Announcement: The Alliance of Lore has joined the Malebrache Confederation

Turn 43 Our first loss in this realm has occured with the death of one of our scouts in the near the Griffin Mountains, he eill be remembered. Other than that quite a quite month, with again failure to summon more than a few men, no new spells, and almost no movement from the remaining scounts. Main news is that TwwNrr's Magic Wagon seems suprisingly to work (through getting volenteers to test it took a while!). I have studied the wagon and think I can repeat the spell. And secondly we have joined the Malebrache Confederation, Hopfully together we can defeat the monsters of this land. Have got to go now, I got a course at the Malebrache Heros Guild, that will annoy the archmage, less money from me.

Turn 44

Think complete disaster then you've got this month sussed. 1 scount was killed, the other 2 decided to turn round then once they got back to where they started from went of in completlly the wrong direction. None of the mages researching gained any new spells, and 1 coudn't find the classroom and didn't get tought. The gnomes decided that they don't like combat much and refused to learn more than the basic combat skills. And to top it all off new recruits totaled ZERO again.
Hopefully next month will be more sucessful, and personally I will have achieved basic skills in all the magical foundations & the Loreseeker should be ready to try and summon up some water elementals, so roll on next month

Turn 45 to 51

As I look back upon these months I see an advancment from a disorganized group to, Highly trained band of men (gnomes?), we have started to exploit the natural recorces around Mystra, and fortanatly none other than the scouts have encountered monsters. All magical training is going well, and we have discovered and created quite a few magic gadgets to help us.
The Malebracha confederation is going from strength to strength, with over 20 members + a hired mercenary company we plan to sally forth this spring to drive back the gathered monsters. Amonst others:
groups of 8 hit plus, combat 4 griffions
tatic 2 fireball casting wvyrens, to the North
10 werewolfs, an ogre and approx 50 wolves (in 2 hexs!!!) to the South

Turn 52

Nothing much happening, even the miners are having to work to pay for coal to see them throught the winter month
Looking forward to spring and action

Turn 63

The MC has pushed both North and South clearing many hexes of monsters for development by members. I have ordered nearly 100 men to my hex to the north, braving the depths of winter that has interupted there journey.
With spring soon to arrive roads and building can be constructed to turn some barren hills into a thriving community.
